Class III and IV licence applications: relevant evidence and clear summaries
Preparing a Canadian Class III or IV medical device licence application? Focus on relevant evidence and clear summaries—not document volume.
In its July 16, 2026 notice, Health Canada warned that unnecessary or duplicative information can delay application reviews.
The notice reinforces three expectations:
• Submit the information needed to support the application.
• Include clear, concise study and evidence summaries that accurately reflect the supporting data.
• If AI tools help prepare summaries, the applicant remains responsible for their accuracy.
A useful preparation step: check that each summary explains the evidence and that each attachment has a clear purpose. Streamlining should never mean omitting required information.
